Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about HitScanTCG.
What card games are supported?
HitScanTCG currently supports the Pokémon Trading Card Game with a database of over 31,000 cards spanning all eras — from Base Set to the latest Scarlet & Violet releases. Support for additional TCGs (Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.) is planned for future updates.

What hardware do I need?
Any modern PC running Windows 10 or 11 with a webcam (any USB webcam or phone camera works). OBS Studio is required for stream overlay integration. No GPU required — all AI processing is handled in the cloud.
Does it work offline?
Partially. The built-in database (31,000+ cards with images) handles card lookups, price display, and the overlay locally. However, the AI identification stage requires an internet connection for cloud processing.
How accurate is the card identification?
HitScanTCG uses a two-stage AI pipeline with visual verification and blended confidence scoring. In testing, it achieves 92-98% accuracy for clearly presented cards in good lighting. Cards below a 65% confidence threshold are automatically rejected, and cards between 65-90% prompt you to scan again.
Can I use my phone as a camera?
Yes! Connect your smartphone as a webcam using any virtual camera app (such as Camo, IVCam, or similar). Once your phone appears as a camera source on your PC, HitScanTCG will detect it automatically. Phone cameras often provide better image quality than budget USB webcams.
Is my data safe?
Absolutely. HitScanTCG processes card images through a secure cloud AI pipeline and does not store your images or stream data on any external server. All card data and pricing information is stored locally on your machine.
What about cards from different eras with the same name?
HitScanTCG has suffix-aware matching that correctly distinguishes between era-specific variants. For example, a Scarlet & Violet lowercase 'Charizard ex' will never be confused with an XY-era uppercase 'Charizard EX' or a Sun & Moon 'Charizard GX'. Exact suffix matches are prioritized while cross-era variants are automatically deprioritized.
How do market prices work?
Prices are sourced from TCGplayer market data. Prices are cached locally and refreshed automatically during streaming sessions. The system prioritizes the most relevant price variant (Holofoil, Normal, or Reverse Holofoil) for the most accurate market representation.
Can I customize the overlay appearance?
Yes! The overlay is fully customizable. You can modify colors, fonts, animations, and layout to match your stream's branding. Changes take effect immediately on refresh — no restart needed.
